Docks & Boat Lifts for Mazinaw and the Land O' Lakes

For water so deep and shores so remote, the details matter more.

Up Highway 41 toward Cloyne, and along the back roads through Plevna and Ompah, the lakes get longer, clearer and deeper. Mazinaw averages about 41 metres deep and plunges to 145 metres in its northern basin, with the 100-metre face of Bon Echo Rock rising straight out of it. Kashwakamak stretches about 15 kilometres along a rocky shoreline.

Cottages here are often a long drive from town and a long way from the nearest hardware store. Two things matter most: a dock that suits deep water, and a setup you will not have to fuss with every weekend.

Docking Over Deep Water

When the lakebed falls away a few metres from shore, there is nothing for legs to stand on. A floating dock sits where the water is, tied back to shore with a ramp, and its anchoring is planned around the depth and the length of open water in front of you. For larger or more exposed sites, modular Wave Armor docks can be configured into a layout that suits the lake.

Deep, clear water also makes for the best swimming in the region. A swim raft in wood, aluminum or a Wave Armor frame gives everyone somewhere to aim for.

A Lift That Brings Its Own Power

Remote cottages are not always wired for a boat lift. Paradise hydraulic lifts come with a 50-watt solar panel and a regulator that protects the battery from overcharging, so the lift keeps itself topped up between visits.

Drawdown Dates Differ Lake to Lake

The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority lowers these lakes each fall, but not all at once. Based on MVCA's 2024 timetable:

  • Kashwakamak Lake: after Thanksgiving weekend
  • Big Gull Lake: after Thanksgiving weekend
  • Mississagagon Lake: after Thanksgiving weekend
  • Mazinaw Lake: after hunting season, around mid-November

Knowing your lake's schedule tells you when to check lift clearance and ramp angles for the season.

What Our Customers Say

"I was sold on the professionalism, and knowledge of docks."

Land O' Lakes Question

My cottage is a long way from Portland. Will you really come?

Yes. Superior Systems serves Southern, Central and Eastern Ontario, and North Frontenac is well within that.
