Docks & Boat Lifts for Perth and Tay Valley Lakes
Thirty-one lakes in one township, and no two shorelines alike.
Tay Valley Township counts 31 lakes and 8 rivers within its borders, which means "a lake near Perth" can describe a dozen very different waterfronts. A dock that suits a sandy family beach on one lake would struggle on the cliffs of another.
We are a short drive from Perth, down the shore of Big Rideau Lake in Portland. Here is how we think about some of the area's best-known waters.

A Lake-by-Lake Guide
Christie Lake
About 15 km southwest of Perth, Christie Lake has a long, irregular shoreline with rocky outcrops and steep cliffs along much of its north and south shores, plus 31 islands. Thin soil over bedrock means legs need a solid footing or the dock needs to float. Where the rock drops away, we usually look at a floating dock with a ramp; where a ledge stays shallow, a pole dock can stand right on it.
Otty Lake
Just south of Perth and ringed by private homes, Otty Lake is a lake people live on, not just visit. Docks here tend to be family hubs: swimming, a boat, and a spot for morning coffee. A tower lift dock suits owners who want the frame up and out of the water once the season ends.
Pike Lake
Between Perth and Westport, Pike Lake's shoals are marked by islands of mature white pine. Placement matters most here: we look closely at where the shallow rock sits before deciding how far out a dock should go.
Bennett Lake and Long Lake
Smaller lakes northwest and south of Perth, where a fishing boat or PWC is often the main craft at the dock. Our own welded cantilever lifts, rated up to 1,300 lbs, are a natural fit for an aluminum fishing boat or PWC.
The Tay River
The Tay starts at Bobs Lake, runs through Christie Lake and the town of Perth, and joins the Rideau system at Beveridge Bay on Lower Rideau Lake. Riverfront docks feel current, and water levels respond to what happens upstream.

A Tay Valley Question
Which conservation authority do I check with?
Lakes in the Tay River watershed, including Christie Lake, fall under the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. Some nearby lakes drain to other watersheds with a different authority, so confirm with your township before building or replacing a dock.
