Docks for Charleston Lake Islands and Boat-Access Cottages
Every arrival starts at the dock. Let's make it an easy one.
On Charleston Lake, plenty of cottages have no driveway at all. You park at a marina, load the boat, and cross the water to an island or a stretch of shoreline with no road behind it. With more than 150 km of shoreline wrapped around Canadian Shield islands and points, it is one of the most sought-after lakes in Eastern Ontario.
When the boat is the only way in, the dock does a lot more than hold the boat. It is where you unload the groceries, hand down the kids and the dog, and tie up safely in a summer storm. We design Charleston Lake docks with that whole routine in mind.

When Your Dock Is Your Driveway
A good arrival dock gives you:
- Room to unload. Enough deck beside the boat to set down coolers and bags without blocking the path to shore.
- A steady step. A platform that does not dip or bounce as people climb out with their arms full.
- A safe berth. Somewhere the boat sits protected when the wind picks up on the open bays.
For most island shorelines that means a floating dock set out where the water is deep enough to bring the boat right alongside, with a ramp back to the rock.
Keeping the Boat Ready
If the boat is your only transportation, you want it dry, clean and ready when you are. A Wave Armor drive-on port floats next to your dock so you can drive on at the end of the day and roll off in the morning.
Getting the Dock to the Island
No road means no delivery truck. We bring dock sections and equipment across the lake by barge and install from the water, so even a shoreline with no landing spot can get a full dock.
For Swimming Days
Shield rock tends to drop off fast here, which makes for clear, deep swimming. A swim raft anchored off your point gives everyone a destination and a place to rest.

Charleston Lake Questions
What if my shoreline is too steep to land a boat?
That is common on Shield islands. A floating dock reaches out to where the water is deep and steady, and the ramp handles the climb back to land.
